ack...i've been neglecting this blog. just when i said i would concentrate on this one. anyways...i've pretty much decided to focus on my tumblr blog for now. there are a couple of reasons. one...i like to post up different music and you can't really do that here. second reason is that everyone that reads my blogs are pretty much on tumblr (yeah...i'm not really that popular). so anyways...in the meantime, just check my tumblr blog for more updates. i will update this one once in a while.

so right now i've been trying to learn more tagalog. it's sad really...i have no skill in speaking it (probably around 1%) and not to well at understanding it (i would say about 30% when it's casual conversation...higher percentage when it's taglish haha) so little by little i'm trying to get people to speak to me in tagalog...which usually doesn't last more then a couple of sentences cause i get lost in what's being said. i've also been trying to listen to tagalog songs when i'm at work...i'm hoping that somehow this will seep into my brain and one day i will wake up understanding more. :p one song that i really like right now is Paano Na Kaya by Bugoy.

so hopefully i will get better at tagalog within this year. the sad part is that i'm trying to learn a little bit of ilocano also...arrghh...i don't even have one language down and i'm trying to tackle two!!!

i found a notebook in my closet the other day. i originally grabbed it so i could work on my talk...but at work i was flippng through it and i found some lyrics that i had wrote for a couple of songs. i'm not to sure how old they are...maybe a year or two at the most. i totally forgot about them. not really complete so they are somewhat pretty rough...but i got the main ideas down.

i'm just gonna post up one for now...maybe i'll post up the others later. hopefully i could find some of my other stuff...i used to write a lot back in the day. poems n stories when i was younger and then songs (mainly hip-hop rap stuff) post teen years. now that i'm older...i guess i got more sappy haha.

back to the grind

well...i'm back from my trip to hawaii. this was my first time to oahu. i really enjoyed it. i think that this is more my type of island. a good mix of both country and city. scenery to enjoy and beaches to relax...but still urban enough to hang out and chill out if needed. :) with the wedding n everything...i didn't get to much time to check out everything. i even extended my stay an extra day. next time i would like to stay a whole week to take my time and check things out a little bit more.

maui of course was relaxing. i have a new addiction now....maui built gear!!! i'm loving their shirts. i bought 3 while i was over there. i would have gotten more but i pretty much spent all my money by then...booo! hopefully i can get more soon...plus another pair of shorts :p

so i've just gotten back but i'm already planning out my trips for the rest of the year. internationl convention in june at long beach. no vacations till then cause i have to save all my days off. i will take an extra day to hang out if people are willing to do something (the monday after the assembly)

i'm thinking about going to PI this december for about 3 weeks. kinda a last minute decision. if i end up doing this...i gotta start saving up now.

then of course back to maui in feb. with a trip to oahu also :)

vacation time

so it's late at night and i'm getting ready for my trip to hawaii. whoop whoop. my ride arrives at 6am since we leave around 9am and i haven't even packed anything. got a load of laundry i'm doing right now...did most of it earlier in the week...but as usual...to lazy to fold everything. of course, everything got wrinkled again and i had to throw it back in the dryer. sheesh...nothing's changed...still procrastinating when it comes to packing and still not folding clothes when they are done washing. haha

so i have no real concrete plans for this trip except for the wedding on sunday and i promised elise that i would save tuesday for her. so other then that...it's pretty much an open schedule for me. i don't really mind cause i want to try to relax a little on this trip. this will probably by my last trip till the international at long beach. one...i have no more vacation time...two...i am now broke haha.

i won't have much internet access while i'm gone so don't really expect anything for another week or so. although texting is always open and u can always hit me up on yahoo messenger if i'm logged on with my phone. i might post up a blog through my phone if i get bored enough. let's see. so hit me up when you're bored and we will chat...otherwise....i'll see u all next week.

new kicks

so my new shoes came in. i've been looking for a good brown shoe and i was able to find a good style...and then nike sb's at that! whoop whoop. the only problem is that the left shoe feels a little tighter then the right shoe. almost as if the right shoe was on display and that's the one that everyone tried on. hmmm...i'm not trying to think about that. i'm gonna have to find out a way to stretch the other shoe though...cause it feels funny when i walk haha. there are a few other shoes that i'm still on the lookout for...the problem is that when i buy...i tend to buy a lot. so i'm thinking of limiting myself to 1 pair a month or 2 months if possible.

now that we have been assigned to international assembly...i have to save up money. the sad thing is that i've already been calculating all my paychecks till this summer so i can budget for all the things that i need to pay n for the things that i want to get. *sigh* it never seems to end. right now i'm just trying to budget for my hawaii trip. in the future i will try not to plan trips so close together. paying off all my expenses for the october trip to maui has left me really tight in the pocket. course...the planning wasn't really my fault since i'm the victim of wedding dates that people have set. so this time...gonna try to cut corners where i can...not condo rental...just sleeping on couches haha :) i don't mind though...in my last apartment i had 2 beds in my room and i always slept on my couch in the living room for over 2 years. haha...it was so comfortable. i gave that couch to gilbert and now he uses it as his bed haha...i miss that couch.

this is a tennis ball i have outside my paint booth at work. i drew little emotions on it and i change it depending on my mood. well a couple of weeks ago i noticed that it was missing. what the heck! why would someone go and steal my emotions like that. i'm upset...but without my tennis ball...how can i even show it. grrrr.

well...it cost me over 50 to fill up my tank the other day. This is starting to get crazy. With all the driving I do back and forth to marysville for meetings and service it's really hurting my pocket. The sad part is since I have turbo in my car I have to use Supreme so I costs even more. Good thing i've been fixing up my car...my mpg went from about 12 to 20...what a difference!

"could you loan me some money till payday?"

hmmm...do any of these phrases sound familar to anyone??? we've probably heard them at one time or another but for me...it seems to be on a daily basis. since i tend to deal with things on a cash basis only (paid off all my debts...no more credit cards!) people take advantage of the fact that i usually have money on me (or at least extra money in the bank).

the reality is...i'm the sucker since i'm the one that's always loaning money out. it's not that bad anymore...i used to loan out money all the time back in the day. not your normal 5 or 20 dollars, i'm talking about a few hundred at a time. i would loan out money even if i couldn't really afford to, then when they couldn't pay on time (or not at all sometimes) it would put me in a bind. the bottom line is, if you can't afford to lose the money...then don't loan it out.

so now i only loan out bigger amounts to close friends. of course, with my bad memory i forget that i even loan out money. every once in a while one of my friends will come up to me and give me a hundred dollars and say "oh i owe you some money" and it will be a complete surprise to me haha. it's nice to have honest friends.

the thing that puzzles me all the time are the people who always borrow money from me every week, which are usually co-workers (except for "gravy" who always used to borrow money cause he was just to lazy to go to an ATM). typically a few days after payday someone will come up to me and ask to borrow 5 dollars. they usually say "oh...i forgot to go to the bank. i'll pay you tomorrow". so tomorrow comes and they don't have the money and they usually then ask "is it ok if i pay you back on payday". normally that's not a big deal to me...but then i see them for the rest of the week...buying lunch or coming in with starbucks. what the heck! where my money at??? i don't understand why you're able to get all these things through the week and yet still need to borrow 5 dollars from me every two weeks or so. you could either not buy a coffee one day and pay me back. even better, work 15 minutes of overtime during a pay period so you make an extra 10 dollars. then you could pay me 5 and then you would have 5 extra and you would never have to borrow money from me again.

It's A Bird...It's A Plane???

I sitting in my car waiting for my breakfast when I saw something fall from the sky. It was coming down pretty fast like a shooting star. In fact, I actually thought it was a comet at first. It was like a fireball but it had like a green tint around it. I saw it come down but there was explosion or fire or anything...at least from where I was.

It was crazy...like something out of a movie. I'm not sure what it was...I was looking to see if anyone else saw it but i'm not sure.

hmmm...wonder what it was.

(UPDATE: turns out that it was a meteor. it was visible to people in Washington, Oregan and even Idaho. here is a video of the meteor)

well...got up this morning and it had snowed a few inches. Normally I don't mind the snow but when it comes to work...I hate it. The policy at my work is that if i'm late or can't make it to work...then I have to use my vacation to cover that time i'm gone. lame! So every time it snows then all my vacation plans become jeopardized. The good news is I was able to make it on time. :p

even better news...my old starbucks still has a bottle of almond left..so I can still order my drink for a little while longer.

Once again I forgot to change my shoes when I left work. So now i'm at the bank wearing shoes that have tons of paint on them. Hmmm this seems to always happen when I have a lot of errands to run. I still have to go to the dry cleaners and the pharmacy.

Terrible news today...I just found out that Starbucks is discontinuing almond syrup!!! Now how am I supposed to order my drink!

I am outraged...this was one of their original flavors from the beggining . Especially since I just got my custom card with my drink on it. How can they just cancel it like that.

I've been craving sushi lately...I haven't had it for a while. My favorite place for sushi is Wasabi Bistro in Seattle. It's a little more spendy, but it's worth it. When I don't feel like spending the gas to go to Seattle, I go to Buck's Teriyaki for some sushi. It may sound weird but they make a really good Spider Roll which is my favorite. Maybe I'll go there tomorrow :P

Hello everyone! Welcome to the start of my new blog. Let me start off with the introductions, then the purpose of this blog.

For those that don't already know...my name is Jeremy and I live in Kent, WA (just South of Seattle). You might be wondering why I call myself PureChinoy. Well...that's a reference to my nationality. It's a mix between of Chinese and Pinoy (pinoy is a slang reference to Filipino). So in essence you can say that I'm Pure Chinoy...although technically i'm actually about 1/16 spanish and 7/16 chinese with the rest being Ilacano. :P Anyways...feel free to call me Jeremy, Jer, Jerbo or PureChinoy...whatever suits you.

With that being said...I guess the name of my blog makes a little more sense. It works in so many levels. One, they reference food which most of you already know I love haha. Second, Dim-Sum is a reference to my Chinese half and Halo-Halo to my Filipino half. Then there is the definitions of each: Dim-Sum means "light refreshments" and the literal translation of Halo-Halo is mix-mix. This will basically be the premise of my blog...a mix of thoughts, ideas and observations but at the same time i will try to keep it light and refreshing. This is a different take then my previous blogs since I used to have heavy commentary and deep thoughts on various subjects and topics.

So there we have it....let's see how this goes and I hope you all enjoy!

(just a sidenote: for future blogs you will probably see me writing in all lowercase which is just how i normally type since it's faster. i will try to stay away from all the acronyms since i find them more annoying nowadays)
